Sun Dried Tomato Hummus

Hummus is a staple in our house and Alex just eats it up with veggies. It is actually the ONLY way I can get him to eat veggies without him spitting it back out onto his plate. It super easy to make and really really yummy. It goes great with what ever veggies you like and as a spread or dip for breads and chips. It also makes for a great simple snack or for me I find my self munching on so many veggies I end up making a meal out of it.  So I thought I would share.

INGREDIENTS:
2 15.5 oz can of Garbonzo Beans
4 cloves of fresh garlic or 2 TBS jarred garlic
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup sun dried tomatos (drained of the oils)
1/4 cup fresh basil (I just throw in a hand full)
Salt to taste.

METHOD:
Throw everything in the blender and mix till smooth.

You can also blend everything and leave the tomatos for the last min and leave them as chunks if you like. I love it that way but Alex will spit the chunks out and make a mess of himself.

Cool and drizzle olive oil on top before serving.

And ENJOY!!

Paperclip Bookmarks

Lately I have been on a major reading binge. I actually decided I was going to read every book we own. I also went to the library to get a card so I can get books there instead of spending god knows how much on book we don't have the room for. So instead of folding over the page in a book that is not mine I decided to amke a bookmark to use instead. I originally saw it with just a ribbon and a paper clip but I put my own spin on it.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:
Paper clips
Ribbons
Paper scrapbook flowers or any shape you want
Bards
Sizzors

HERE'S WHAT TO DO:
Cut the string whatever length you like. I cut mine long enough to poke out the bottom of my books that way I never have to take the bookmark off the front of my book.
Attach bards to the flower with the string underneath leaving enough string to still work with.
Slip paper clip onto string.
Pull the other side throught the hoop, pull tight and double knot.
 And you're all done.

Pillow mattress

So I keep seeing these pillow mattresses for kids all over pinterest and I wanted one for Alex so bad. He just loves lying down on the hard cold floors to watch Mickey Mouse and Chuggington. Plus when I get on the floor to play with him I always end up with a numb butt and a hurt back!

So I set out to make one and did so for a whooping 8 bucks. I used the tutorial at Southern Dispostion but instead of using a duvet I used a fitted sheet from ikea for 3.99. ( I meant to get a flat sheet but for som reason my brain wasnt working at 8 pm when I was able to go) the fitted sheet worked just fine it was a little more work then I wanted. All I did was cut the ends off and made it fit the lenght x2 and the hight x4 of 1 pillow.

I plan on dying it and embroidering Alex's name on it, since I plan on making one for Riley as well.
Alex and Jamie watching Chuggington.
The first thing he does now is run to his mattress!

*note: I'm a novice sewer so mine doesn't look all that fantastic but it gets the job done. I'm not about to waste money to do it all over again. Hopefully over time my sewing will get better looking. Also it didn't help that I accidentally got a fitted sheet when I needed a flat sheet.

Here I Go (AGAIN)!!

This is my second attempt at my blog!! With my first one apparently I didn't transfer ownership correctly from my email that was hacked (for the 4th time non the less) to my new one, so it got deleted. But thankfully it was only up for about a week and I had only 2 post on it. I would of been so much more upset if it had so much more on it!! So here I go again, hopefully nothing goes wrong this time around. I'm still learning about this whole blogging thing so bare with me and I hope you guys like what I have to offer!
